Have you realized just how quickly Christmas is approaching, at least for the hand knitter? If you have a fiber artist in the family or claim one as a friend, they'll love to receive one of these beautiful knit lace angels, each one practicing a different fiber art. This is also a great project for those who like to have a collection of hand knit gifts ready for emergency gift giving. Angels can be mounted as Christmas tree ornaments or table decorations. Finished height on small angels (1-10) is 3.5". Angels 11 and 12 are approximately 10" tall. This thirteen session class will cover all 12 angels from Angels: A Knitter's Dozen We will spend two weeks on the first angel to cover basic Angel anatomy and assembly, then one week per angel thereafter. Cost is $5 per session to the tip jar. Come to as many or as few sessions as you like. Multiple copies of the book Angels: A Knitter's Dozen, by Gerdine Strong, have been ordered and will arrive before the first class. Reserve your copy early! You'll also need number 10 mercerized crochet cotton and a set of US 1 double point needles (preferably bamboo, but knitter's choice). | ||

Do you love Celtic knot patterns like those in Melissa Leapman's book, Cables Untangled? Learn basic skills to execute these lovely cables in this class. We'll cover basic cable cross overs, as well as the increases and decreases necessary to complete knots at the top and bottom of the cable pattern to create the appearance of the knot having one continuous strand. Bring cotton yarn for a washcloth or wool for a potholder, plus appropriate sized needles. Pattern is included with class. Cable needles are optional as the instructor will be demonstrating a nifty technique for doing cables without an extra needle to hold stitches while crossing them. Cost is $15. Start: 1:00 pm

Learn to make this beautiful rib stitch pattern that Elizabeth Zimmerman dubbed "prime rib." When rows of different colors are alternated, they create vertical (not horizontal) stripes in the rib for a unique effect that can be used on cuffs and hats or anywhere a rib might be used. The instructor will demonstrate a nifty technique for two-color cast-on in rib pattern so that the vertical color pattern will not be broken at the brim and to make the brim stretchier than it would be with a traditional backwards loop or long-tail cast-on. Pattern is included with class. Cost of this class is $15. Start: 1:00 pm
